Money Pit

Last night I went roller skating at the open skate... it is alot of fun. We only skated for about 2 hours and then headed to this bar called the Mojo Room. The mojo room even though I never went inside was pretty cool. They have this awesome backyard. with a white screen and played a movie for us... Kansas City Bomber. It was pretty good... if you click on it you can read my review of it. I think they need more chairs in the backyard area but they have an outside bar a tadpole pond made out of an old bathtub. The backyard at that bar has alot of potential. After leaving all I could think about was... wow this would make a great scooter rally location for a weekend.

Roller skating is alot of fun. Roller Derby is going to be more fun I think when we actually split up into teams. I just hope my job can start soon so I can afford to be involved. I joined at first to meet some new people and get some exercise. I dont think I realized that it was going to take up over 2 nights a week and cost me so much money. I want to be involved still, I just think I am stressed over my money situation. I personally think that we could get enough people to sponsor us that there would not be the need for the dues... or at least to lower the dues... $420 dollars a year plus the cost of skate... I am going to guess around $100 at least for the ones I liked. so that is $520. Then we currently go to open skates.. which cost $3.00 to get in if you go twice a week that is $312 for the year if you attend every open skate. Total of $832 for the year. I think I could most likely get a gym membership which would give me more exercise and cost me less a year and I wouldnt risk breaking any bones and I can go when I want to. If I add in the price of the pads I already purchased for $15 and a helmet that they want me to buy for $18.00 that totals... $865 currently since I do not have skates I have to pay $3.00 to rent skates each week which I have done at least 5 times so far which is $15 totaling $880. That is alot of money for another hobby.

Scootering costs me over that a year I think... from traveling expenses, parts, clothing, rally fees.... Maybe I am just not ready to make this financial commitment yet when I am not bringing in enough money to cover all the expenses, I currently do not have health insurance which should change if I can start my job soon. I have not heard back about it since I signed the agreement they sent me. I really wish they would call and tell me I could start Monday. The only bad thing about the job is the commute to DC and the time I am going to have to wake up. I need to continue my job search.
