Best
Rat
So for those that know me really well know that I love my pink scooter more than anything else that I own. Well maybe I love it as much as I love my crappy laptop.
So Saturday I
drove 50 miles to DC on my scooter. I have to drive through the ghetto to get
to the highway I-70 which I drove on for about 5 miles to get to 29. While I
was in a full tuck going about 65 miles an hour on the highway some kids in
a car took my photo with their cell phone. I thought they must have been amazed
that I was driving on a major highway on a pink vespa. The rest of the ride
down 29 was pretty fun cars passed me... I passed cars. I didnt want to drive
down to DC at first all by myself but I made it with no problems and now hope
to do it again soon. The reason I was driving to DC was to go to the Vespa Washington's
3rd annual classic bike show. I won a $50 gift certificate for being the farthest
ridden which was cool. There was a BBQ and you could vote for best of show and
best rat. My pink bike won... BEST RAT! it is weird because I never really consider
my bike a rat bike. I consider it a daily driver that runs better than most
peoples bikes I know... it is dependable... it is cute... but it really is not
a RAT. A rat is normally a piece of crap that either wins to the fact that it
looks like shit or runs like shit. There is really no rust on my bike... and
their were bikes other than mine that were in worse condition. I am really glad
to win because it came with another $50 gift certificate. But by far I will
never refer to my bike as a rat. It is more reliable than most bikes... so I
dont sit and polish it and keep it looking its best. If it were super shiney
I wouldnt want to ride it so much if I was so anal that I would need to clean
it after each ride.
So I have several
decisions to make on what I want to get with my $100 credit. I really want an
Icon Timax Mesh jacket for summer riding. Summer is almost up... I need a full
face helmet for the winter so I can ride longer without my face freezing off.
I would like a pair of googles so that when I am riding fast wind is not going
in my eyes and making me tear up. The jacket is cheaper than the helmet I want.
Who knows both are more than $100 and I have no job... although that is about
to change.
So I think I will be starting soon at one of the CD Game exchanges in the DC area. I will know on Tuesday.
